Diagnosis

The Double 7s strategy on META made a strong profit, turning a 251% total return over 74 trades. The ride was fairly steady with a high win rate of nearly 80%, but it had one very painful stretch where it lost over 27% from February to March 2020, which was likely during the COVID crash. That worst drawdown shows where the strategy hurt most, and it was a concentrated period of losses. The result is not driven by just a few lucky trades, since the average trade returned a solid 1.85%. The entry timing is doing a good job, as the real entries beat 76% of random entries, meaning the entry signal itself is carrying the result rather than the exits. The edge also showed up consistently across all four walk-forward test periods, so the profit came steadily rather than from one lucky stretch.
