This strategy made money overall, turning a 168% total return, but the ride was very lumpy. The worst stretch was a brutal 42% drawdown that lasted from mid-2018 to early 2020, which would have been painful to sit through. The high win rate of nearly 78% suggests most trades were small winners, but the average gain per trade was only about 3%, so the overall result was not driven by a few massive home runs. The entry timing showed a real edge, beating random entries 81% of the time, meaning the entry signal itself is doing the heavy lifting rather than the exits. The edge was fairly consistent, showing up in three out of four test periods, so it wasn't just one lucky stretch.
