This strategy made a massive amount of money, turning a $4,400 gain on a hypothetical starting amount, but the ride was extremely lumpy and painful. The worst stretch was a brutal 88.83% drawdown that lasted over three and a half years, from early 2021 to late 2024, which would have been very hard to sit through. With only 36.73% of trades being winners, the overall profit was driven by a few big winning trades that made up for many small losses. The entry timing is strong, as the real entries beat 86% of random entries, meaning the signal to buy when the Awesome Oscillator crosses above zero is doing most of the heavy lifting. The edge is also consistent, showing up in three out of four test periods, so the result is not just a fluke from one lucky stretch.
