Diagnosis

This strategy made money overall, turning a 216% total return on META over 17 trades. The ride was lumpy, not steady, with a maximum drawdown of nearly 24% that lasted almost a year from August 2025 to July 2026, which is where it hurt most. The result is not driven by just a few lucky trades, since the win rate was a solid 58.8% and the average trade returned nearly 10%. The entry timing is carrying the result, because the real entries beat 95% of random entry runs, meaning the timing of getting in is the main source of edge rather than the exits. The edge shows up consistently across time, as the strategy was profitable in 3 out of 4 walk forward test periods, so it is not just one lucky stretch.
